Can Air Purifiers Eliminate Mold Spores?
6/22/2022 (Permalink)
Air Purifiers are very effective.
Here Is What You Need to Know About Air Purifiers
If you’re looking for simple ways to combat mold damage in your home, you may have considered using an air filtration system at some point. Before you make a purchase, it’s important to determine whether using this unit in your home is an effective solution for eliminating mold. Here is what you need to know about air purifiers and their ability to remove mold spores form your living space.
How Air Purifiers Work
To measure the effectiveness of air purifiers, it’s helpful to know exactly how they work. A typical air purifier uses a High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter to remove mold from your living space. These filters isolate airborne particles of mold and trap them inside the filter, preventing them from causing damage to your home. To get the most out of your purifier, be sure to place it in an area of your home where mold is often found. This can include:
- Bathrooms
- Kitchens
- Basements
- Rooms that contain upholstered furniture
Installing your air filtration system in any part of your home that has been impacted by mold damage can ensure that the purifier does its job effectively.
The Effectiveness of Air Purifiers
While your air purifier can help to control a mold problem in the short term, it isn’t an appropriate solution for eliminating mold spores permanently. If you wish to get to the root of your mold problem, it is best to contact a professional. Trusting experts to remove mold from your home can help assure you that your living space is free of damage.
Air purifiers can be effective units to install in your Kenosha home. However, you shouldn’t rely on air filtration systems alone to remove mold from your living space. Trust mold remediation services to help your home return to normal so that it can remain free of mold damage.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Dropping off donation bins at participating locations - Lakeside Foods (Paddock Lake)
And just like that we’re on to the next holiday and it’s the end of 2020.
I want to take a moment to step back and thank all the local businesses who helped participate in our Thanksgiving Food Drive: Lakeside Foods in Paddock Lake and Sandlots of Salem in Salem.
All the non-perishable items collected were dropped off at a couple places who we knew needed to stock up. This year we donated to the Sharing Center, St. Vincent DePaul, and Westosha Lakes Church. As 2020 has taken a toll on most of us, it has also affected our community members as well. Many of us are very fortunate and can help give back. We were proud of the items collected and donated back into the community.
Everyone is just looking to have a blessed and beautiful holiday season. Although things may have looked different this year, we can still spread joy and cheer.
While we can’t connect like usual, don’t forget to call your loved ones and make someone smile. Life is too short to not call. Enjoy the moment this holiday season.

The CDC encourages cleaning of high-touch surfaces such as counters, tabletops, doorknobs, light switches, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards, tablets and tables. Other spaces mentioned in the CDC’s guidance for commercial spaces include:
- Kitchen/Food Areas
- Bathrooms

The CDC recommends usage of a labeled hospital-grade disinfectant with claims against similar pathogens to the coronavirus. Multiple products in the SERVPRO product line carry the EPA-approved emerging pathogens claims. Ghostbusters? or SERVPRO Technicians?
3/11/2020 (Permalink)
Our production technicians are out in the field cleaning garage walls acting like Ghost Busters. Playing a little dress up today!
Who you gonna call….. GHOST…. Wait. SERVPRO of SOUTH KENOSHA COUNTY!
What are those Ghostbusters looking things on their backs?! Are they sucking up ghosts and spirits?
Silly customer, those are our HEPA vacuums! HEPA stands for (High-Efficiency Particulate Air). The main difference between a conventional vacuum and a HEPA vacuum is that the HEPA filters can capture extremely small, micron-sized particles. They can collect particles of 0.3 microns trapping 99.97% of particles that are airborne.
When would you see something like this in action?! We would use these on any kind of cleaning, demolition, and/or mold remediation jobs. These filters just help keep the air quality safe and helps to not release the particulates into the air.

Why SERVPRO of South Kenosha
1/14/2020 (Permalink)
It's great to have all parties involved with the loss so we are all of the same page. We try our best to have minimal miscommunications.
Work Order Phases- Here is the breakdown of our protocol when a lead comes in.
Phase I: Initial inspection: Scope of work is generated. Conversation with all parties involved will be updated on what will need to happen in order to restore your property back to preloss condition. Once approved by the homeowner/business-owner, initial documents must be signed. If you are filing an insurance claim the necessary approvals will need to be approved by your insurance carrier and then documented before mitigation can start. If you are not going through insurance, 50% down is required before mitigation can start. An agreed upon price will be discussed before down payment is required.
Phase II: Once approvals have been approved, the mitigation process will start. Based off the scope of work, services can include demolition, cleaning, pack-out, dumpster rental, pod rental, etc. Necessary drying equipment will be placed and monitored to ensure that the structure has met the recommended drying goals. Once drying goals have been met and the structure is dry, mitigation is complete. At this time any and all equipment will be removed from the property. Final documentation will need to be signed for the mitigation portion of this loss.
Phase III: At this time, you may select a contractor of your choice to repair your property back to preloss condition. If you are inquiring to have SERVPRO of South Kenosha County do any repair work, an inspection and estimate will need to be scheduled, written, and submitted to all parties involved. No repairs will start until an agreed upon price is established with all parties. Once a contract is written and signed, 50% down payment will be collected before repairs can begin.
Sincerely, SERVPRO of South Kenosha County
Paint Splatter? OH NO!
10/25/2019 (Permalink)
All geared up in PPE, ready to remove paint!
Why choose SERVPRO of South Kenosha County?
We aren’t your typical Joes, we’re better! Handling anything that comes across the phone.
Well, we are more than just your average water, fire, and mold mitigators. This week we took on a project many wouldn’t think to call about. A homeowner called in and was looking to get paint splatters removed off a neighboring fence. This is a unique kind of call, but it is something that we can take care of. The proper removal of the paint is done by Soda Blasting! This is an abrasive blasting method used with Sodium Bicarbonate, otherwise known as Baking Soda!! The baking soda is applied at a high pressure to the surface of the material, in this case the fence. Due to the fence being stained wood, the finish did come off. This was established before we started the project. The homeowner is just excited to have his fence without white paint splatters. He is going to finalize the project by restaining the fence when he has time!
A huge positive about soda blasting is that it’s environmentally friendly and biodegradable. It is also non-toxic and water soluble. As you can see in the photo, there is a garden bed right below the fence. Happy to inform the customer that this will not damage their flowers, as it will not build up in the soil! This method can remove grease and paint up to 15 times quicker than industrial hydro-blasting.
As it is no surprise to me, at the end of it all the homeowner was extremely pleased with the final product. So appreciative of our crew rocking this job.
If you ever come across a situation like this, give us a call! 262-332-7044
A Functioning Home
7/16/2019 (Permalink)
This is a function able kitchen, while getting dried out.
This homeowner realized she has an issue when her dishwasher started to leak causing damage around the cause of loss.
Our Production Manager, Eric, goes out and assesses our inspections. Initial findings:
“The dishwasher leaked and caused water damaged in the portion of the kitchen, living room and laundry room. There appears to be some growth in the kitchen and into the living room as well. There will be asbestos testing done before we start any removal of material. The plumber was onsite to disconnect the plumbing and we removed the sink base cabinet and added some temp framing. The plumber re-connected the plumbing, so the homeowner has a running sink. We removed the face of the cabinet and is onsite. The laundry room ceiling and insulation was affected. We will start the mitigation portion once the asbestos results come back. We’ll be removing cabinet, mil work, insulation drywall and flooring.”
We want to ensure that the CUSTOMER is being taken care of, but more importantly feeling like they can still manage to utilize their house when it’s under construction, sustaining our values of CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Educating the Community

Business 2 Business EXPO- Marcella and Jim
Marcella & Jim, marketing representatives for SERVPRO of South Kenosha County, helped educate our community to ensure that businesses and homeowners are prepared if a natural disaster were to strike. At the Business to Business Expo, hosted by Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce, we shared to our businesses our Emergency Ready Program (ERP). It is an app and/or paper copy profile of your business. It helps give owners, managers, and employees a calming sense because the profile will assist you if there was ever an issue at the office.
Our main goal of the B2B Expo was to educate the community. A lot of business owners and/or homeowners are unsure what to do or who to call in an emergency. We want the workplace to feel as if they aren’t losing revenue, while stressing through a critical situation that just happened inside your building. Having this plan will help cut out worry and scrambling time. It will provide all your key contacts, where shut off valves are, etc.
Please call us today (262) 332 – 7044 to set up a time to come in and explain more about this awesome plan.
