Believe it or no commercial properties are not immune to damage. In fact, some properties are more at risk due to the activity or work that is performed inside each one of these facilities. One thing that we offer to commercial property owners as a FREE service is the Emergency Readiness Profile (ERP).
An ERP is a free assessment of the facility containing critical information needed in the event of an emergency. Do Carpeted Floors Increase the Urgency of Water Cleanup for you Office?
6/6/2022 (Permalink)
SERVPRO of South Kenosha responds quickly to water damage to help prevent more damage.
Water damage can happen at any time: day or night. Timing can complicate your decision on handling the damage, because it could be right before a busy day, or at the end of the day. Water damage can take some time to restore, so you may decide to wait until its more convenient. It is not ideal to wait when it comes to water damage.
Carpet, for example, can absorb water quickly, and when left wet over extended periods, structural damages occur that lead to the disintegration of their layered construction. By waiting, carpeting that could have been restored, may have to be disregarded. Our water restoration technicians have experience handling carpets and understand the details of water damage to carpeting.
Carpeting is made of various materials including fibers like nylon, wool, polypropylene, or polyester. The primary backing is made from thermoplastic or latex adhesive, while the secondary backing is made from jute or polypropylene. This layered construction is one of the reasons you should not delay water damage restoration in your office. When exposed to moisture for a prolonged period, the adhesives holding the primary fibers deteriorate, leading to irreversible damage, such as delaminating. Stains and foul odors also develop.
When you call SERVPRO of South Kenosha County, we are ready to respond. We offer emergency services 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, even on holidays.
Call us at (262) 332-7044 and we will come up with a plan that minimalizes the impact to your business’s busy schedule.

Trust SERVPROXIDE to Disinfect Your Commercial Space
8/26/2021 (Permalink)
One of our products SERVPROXIDE is our proprietary hospital grade disinfectant registered with the EPA. It is a stabilized chlorine dioxide-based antimicrobial which carries the EPA’s lowest toxicity rating. The product itself doesn’t carry any fragrance other than a mild cleaning odor which dissipates quickly making it a great product for people with chemical or odor sensitivities.
There are many different applications for SERVPROXIDE. It can eliminate odors through disinfecting and oxidation rather than just covering them up. That can be done by applying the product directly with towels or through misting or spraying which is often used when we clean HVAC systems. It has even been utilized in electrostatic spraying for an even application on surfaces inside buildings.
In fact, SERVPROXIDE is the disinfectant we have used when we have been asked to clean and disinfect COVID-19 in homes and businesses here in South Kenosha and throughout Kenosha Counties.
The CDC recommends the usage of labeled hospital-grade disinfectant with claims against similar types of organisms to COVID-19 and SERVPROXIDE has EPA-approved claims against things like Feline coronavirus, Canine coronavirus, staphylococcus, E. coli, Salmonella, Rotavirus, and Swine flu.
When you use SERVPRO South Kenosha, you can have a piece of mind knowing that our team is using hospital-grade disinfectant with the EPA. Our chemists are even able to advise us in unorthodox situations to utilize our suite of cleaning products to clean and deodorize even the strongest and strangest combination of smells and soils.

The following statistics were shared form our corporate headquarters: 75% of businesses want to visibly show their cleaning practices to employees and customers, while 65% of businesses want to show “proof” of their increased cleaning protocols.

If a structure is sanitized and disinfected as part of the CSC program, a window decal shield will be left at the structure as well as a separate window decal which should be dated by the franchise to let everyone know when it was last sanitized and disinfected. Containments are Important Too
5/19/2020 (Permalink)
This containment was build on an multiple unit fire job. Containments are for all types of losses: fire, water, mold, biohazard, etc.
At SERVPRO of South Kenosha County we strive to help keep your business running while we handle the disaster. It is a goal of our company to keep you the most operable while we do our job properly as well. One way to separate the noise and environment of the loss from your workplace production is to set up a containment. This contraption will keep that environment within limits or controlled by our set up. This photo is showing one of our finely built containments, by our highly trained crew. This is one of the first steps production makes when coming on scene. While the managers and leaders are off talking through the scope, the physical work begins. This is an important step to begin with. Almost all commercial losses will see some type of containment set up based on the building layout.
Area containment is very helpful in the loss process, what you can’t see, still exists. First and foremost it has the ability to prevent further damage to health and even property. Mitigating, or reducing the severity, by taking these steps truly play a huge part in getting the job done properly and efficiently.
If you have questions about containment or anything in general, call the office and ask for Marcella. (:

Fire Extinguishers in the Work Place
4/15/2019 (Permalink)
Fire extinguishers in the work place are required by law, but also an essential safety tool that could assist in a disaster, if it were to ever strike. Many don’t realize that there are many different types of office fire extinguishers depending on your office needs.
The amount and class of extinguishers you need with depend on the square foot of your office area and the types of material you have inside. The local fire marshal will stop in periodically to make sure your equipment is up to date and that you are enforcing all the fire codes.
I am going to break down the different types of fire extinguishers and the classes that each can put out.
CLASSES:
- COMMON COMBUSTIBLES: Wood, Paper, Cloth, etc.
- FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS AND GASES: Gasoline, Propane, and Solvents
- LIVE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT: Computers, Fax, Machines
- COMBUSTIBLE METALS: Magnesium, Lithium, Titanium
- COOKING MEDIA: Cooking oils and Fats
Water Fire Extinguishers – Class A
Foam Fire Extinguishers- Class A & B
CO2 Fire Extinguishers- Class B & C
Powder Fire Extinguishers- Class A, B, & C
Wet Chemical Fire Extinguishers- Class K
Check out your office fire extinguisher and see if you are prepared if a disaster were to strike. Depending on the size of your business, ask you maintenance man, owner, or manager if your business is equipped.
Call our office with any questions!
